Denise Welch fans react to false rumours claiming she had ‘gone missing’ in a hot air balloon crash, following her extended absence on Loose Women. 

On Saturday, unsubstantiated reports spread, alleging that the 66-year-old TV personality had ‘gone missing’ in a hot air balloon.

Now MailOnline take a look at how fans have reacted to the news with one saying ‘it’s so sad’ it happened just before Mother’s Day.

They wrote: ‘I can’t believe Denise Welch went missing just before mothering Sunday, it’s just so sad. At least the clocks go forward tonight so they’ve got one less hour of suffering, wherever they are.’

It comes after Denise took to her Instagram Stories on Saturday evening to mock false rumours claiming she had ‘gone missing’ in a hot air balloon crash, following her extended absence on Loose Women.

On Saturday, unsubstantiated reports spread, alleging that the 66-year-old TV personality had ‘gone missing’ in a hot air balloon.

In response to these baseless rumours, Denise shared several hilarious posts on her social media, poking fun at the claims.

The comedic sequence began when Denise reposted an article that read: ‘Hot Air Balloon Carrying Denise Welch Disappears En Route from the UK to France.’

Denise humorously mocked the post, saying, ‘Thank goodness they found me!!!’ along with several laughing emojis.

Shortly after, she shared a picture of a Simpsons character waving from a hot air balloon.

She then reposted a tweet from X (formerly Twitter) that read: ‘Lady Gaga begins search for Denise Welch and the lost hot air balloon herself – “I am looking for Densy” she said.’

Denise captioned the post: ‘There’s hope for me yet!!’

Meanwhile, another user on X shared a photo of Denise with retired actor Sir Michael Caine, 92, captioned: ‘BREAKING: Sir Michael Caine breaks leg catching Denise Welch who fell out of a hot air balloon earlier today.’

To wrap up the evening, Denise posted one final video with Gabbriette, strutting toward the camera with the text: ‘When you’ve been missing for hours above France in a balloon!!’

It comes after Denise admitted earlier this month that she’s a helicopter parent who inserts herself into ‘every aspect’ of her sons’ lives.

The Loose Women star and ex-husband Tim Healy, 73, are proud parents to son Matty, 36, who is the lead singer of The 1975 and actor son Louis, 24.

Helicopter parents refer to parents who are overly protective and controlling of their children’s lives. They earned this stereotype for being perceived as relentlessly hovering over their children, trying to micro-manage their affairs.

Despite the unfortunate label, Denise has revealed that she happily invades her boys’ lives with ‘military precision’ offering unwanted advice and being meddlesome.

In her latest column with The i Paper, the TV personality told that her boys find her so interfering, that they’ve branded her a ‘Poundland Kris Jenner’.

Denise explained: ‘The radar is on full alert at all times and I insert myself into any aspect of their lives I can squeeze into. Totally uninvited, I swoop in with military precision to offer advice and solutions to problems they don’t have.’

She went on to add: ‘I also feel the need to talk to them every day and if they don’t respond immediately to my calls or texts, I wish I could have an all-points bulletin or BOLO [an alert system used by police departments] out on them in minutes. Yes, I watch too much American television.’

She confessed that if they don’t respond to her as soon as possible, she immediately thinks they’re in ‘serious danger’ and goes into panic mode.

In her column, Denise also joked about having her ‘helicopter parent pilot’s license’ as she constantly ‘hovers’ over Matty and Louis’ lives, with the star even guilty for interfering backstage during Matty’s gigs.

The former Coronation Street star recalled how she wasn’t like this when her boys were younger, noting how she was laidback and often played host to her sons’ parties during their teenage years.

But Denise admitted that she believes that she’s this way because her boys don’t need her as much now they’re grown and successful, with Louis being an up-and-coming actor and Matty being a huge rockstar who once dated Taylor Swift.

Denise added: ‘I ask myself why I became a later-life helicopter mum. I think it’s because I didn’t need constant assurance when they were little that I was the most important person in their lives and now they’re grown, I do.’

She noted that she knows how much her boys love her but realises that they don’t need her to be their ‘life momager’ like the Kardashian matriarch.
